Welcome to the Union Local School District.  “The Home of Jets” where pride, spirit and tradition are the bywords of our school in which the entire community takes pride.
The Union Local School District is comprised of hard working people in a rural area encompassing one hundred-fifty (150) square miles and several proud communities:  Centerville, Belmont, Bethesda, Morristown, Flushing, Holloway, Uniontown, Jacobsburg and Lafferty.  The High School (9-12), Middle School (6-8) and Elementary School (PreK-5) are located on a beautiful 100+ acre state of the art campus.
Construction started in May of 1996 on a new High School and Elementary School and also extensive remodeling to the former High School to house the Middle School.  The massive project was made possible by the support of our taxpayers and the Ohio Schools Facility Commission.
In 2009 and 2011 the District partnered again with the OSFC as a Look-Back District.  This project involved the replacement of the roof on the Middle School; fire alarm upgrades district wide, exterior water proofing, stucco repair, keyless entry system, some pavement replacement, catch basins and replaced the shingle roof on the Elementary School.
Our Fiscal Year 2010 per pupil expenditure is $8,839.77 and similar district’s average is $8,836.16.  Our revenue sources are:  63.61% (state funds), 25.73% (local funds) and 10.65% (federal funds).  Our District enrollment is currently at 1492 students PreK-12 (PreK-45, Kindergarten-105, 1st-115, 2nd-98, 3rd-121, 4th-102, 5th-102, 6th-107, 7th-125, 8th-122, 9th-113, 10th-98, 11th-127, 12th-98, 23rd-1).  The number of students on free lunch is 536 and reduced lunch is 130.  227 students attend special education classes.
Our District is proud of the fact that we can maintain a 20 to 1 student/teacher ratio.  There are 103 certified staff and 55 classified staff who maintain a high standard of professional ethics and that have a caring attitude towards our children.  We have outstanding facilities, outstanding curriculum and outstanding staff.  The Union Local School District has been an effective district for the past six years.
