Results of Parent Surveys
09 February 2010
The results of the parent surveys are back and we, as a district, have been diligently studying them. For the middle school, a common concern has been the climate of the school as well as the ability to prepare students for future work. We have taken these comments into consideration and are currently working towards improving these areas of concern.
As the building principal, I take your concerns very seriously. I want to help make Union Local Middle School a superior school with an inviting and conducive environment. As a result, the middle school staff and students have been focusing on creating a positive climate. We are working hard at implementing Rachel’s Challenge into our building and encouraging our students and staff to act with kindness and compassion.
Another concern parents indicated on the survey was the school succeeding at preparing children for future work. Again, as a district, we have discussed this issue in several meetings including our District Leadership Team, Building Leadership Team and curriculum meetings. In addition to these meetings, I have also been studying other schools’ schedules and curriculum as well as researching best practices in the public schools. As a result of the new information I have acquired, I am currently in the process of revising the middle school schedule for the 2010-2011 school year.
I would like to thank parents for taking the time to complete this survey. Your thoughts and concerns are very important to us. I will continue to look at the information you have provided through this survey and strive to address you and your child’s concerns.
