Fundraiser for Zack Jones

On Friday, September 3, 2010, the middle school held a benefit dance in honor of Zack Jones and his family to help pay for medical expenses. The dance was a huge success thanks to the kind hearts of the Union Local community, local business owners, parents, students, 8th grade friends of Rachel and staff. The following businesses generously donated towards this cause: Extreme Entertainment donated their DJ service and inflatables, Carpenter's Pizza and Bethesda Pizza Parlor. The 8th grade class donated pop and water. The staff and parents donated cookies, chips and chaperone services. With the help of everyone involved, this event raised over $2,555! A big thanks goes out to everyone who helped!

Union Local Middle School is currently in 13th place as a finalist for the Windstream Classroom Connections Program. There will be ten $5,000 awards given to the top ten school that receive the most votes. We are very close to winning and we need your help! Please click on the home page icon on the left of this screen. Scroll down the page to "Please help our schools and vote". Click on the "Middle School Vote Here" icon and vote for our school. Please vote every day. Please have your family and friends vote too. Your vote really does matter!! If Union Local Middle School wins this grant, the $5,000 will go towards purchasing new technology for the classrooms. Your help is very much appreciated!
Welcome Back!

I want to welcome everyone back to school. I am very much looking forward to the 2010-2011 school year. We have made several schedule changes including adding music for all 6th and 7th grade students as well as a critical thinking class for all 8th grade students. We will also be offering an after-school program that will be focusing on math and reading along with physical education and fine arts. We will be sending home information on this program shortly.
