April 30, 2021
Good Afternoon,
The Union Local School District has three new confirmed cases of COVID. One case is in a student at Union Local Middle School and the other is in two students at Union Local High School. There are five other active cases of COVID within the Union Local Elementary School. Two cases are in a staff member and three cases are in students. Thus there are a total of eight active cases in students and staff within the Union Local School District. For all cases contact tracing has been completed and necessary notifications have been made to individuals considered to be close contacts.
Families are asked to report any positive cases of COVID within their child to their respective child’s school nurse. Also, if the child may have been considered a close contact of someone with a positive case this should be reported to the school nurses. They can be accessed by the building numbers or by calling Union Local Elementary number is 740-526-6832 or the Union Local Middle and High School number is 740-526-1409.
In addition to the above information, the district is requesting that families continue to complete daily at home monitoring of children prior to them coming to school. It is of the utmost importance that these steps be completed
DAILY AT HOME SYMPTOM MONITORING

___Headache ___Sore Throat
___Cough ___Congestion or runny nose
___Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing ___Nausea or vomiting

Families should not send a child to school if any of the above symptoms are present in a student. Families should seek guidance from their child’s respective school in return to school protocol. This can be obtained by speaking with the building nurse. Any loss of taste or smell will require a student to complete quarantine protocol even without a COVID test. Anyone who has been exposed to a positive case of COVID should contact the numbers above prior to sending their child to school.
Sincerely,
